Itinerary

Dates: Friday August 10-Aug 27 2018

  • Sherborne:  We will be staying in Sherborne from Saturday Aug 11 -  Tuesday Aug 14 at the Sherborne Girls's School.  http://www.sherborne.com   
    • On Sunday we will sing Evensong at Sherborne Abbey.  It has been a Saxon Cathedral (705–1075), a Benedictine abbey (998–1539), and is now a parish church.  
  • On on way to Falmouth on Wednesday Aug 15 we will visit Tintagel Castle (1230) (http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/places/tintagel-castle/).  The castle is set on the rugged North Cornwall coast, is steeped in legend and mystery; said to be the birthplace of King Arthur and features in the tale of Tristan and Isolde. 
  • From Wednesday Aug 15 - Sunday Aug 19 we will be living at the Glasney Student Village at Falmouth University.
    • During our stay we will have our much-anticipated Mystery Tour and visit some of the very exciting sites in the Cornwall area.
    • On Sunday Aug 19 we will sing the Eucharist at St. Ia in St. Ives, and hopefully have some time to stroll on the beaches nearby after the service.
    • One evening we also hope to see Wolf Hall at one of the world's most famous outdoor theatres - the Minack Theatre (https://www.minack.com).  
  • From Monday Aug 20 - Monday Aug 27 we will be in Truro, residing at Truro School (https://www.truroschool.com). Truro Cathedral was built between 1880 and 1910 in Gothic Revival design.  It is one of only three cathedrals in the United Kingdom with three spires.  The Father Willis Organ of 1887 is widely regarded as one of the finest instruments in the country. "It is not easy, even today, to think how the magnificence of the Willis organ in Truro Cathedral could be improved" wrote W L Sumner in his 1952 book The Organ.  We will sing services daily, except for the Thursday which people will be free to tour on their own.  
    • On our final Sunday night we have our talent show which does show the talent, and humour, of the group. 
  • We return home on Monday Aug 27.
